Praga Karting Joins with Orion Racing Team
Top Czech karting teams join forces
7 November 2011, Prague, Czech Republic —
It was announced at a press conference on Friday, 4 November, that the Czech karting team Orion Racing will now race under the Czech karting brand Praga. Orion’s drivers will join forces with Praga’s current Czech karting team, Praga-Sumako, along with Dutchman Bas Lammers, to form Praga Kart Racing, the Praga brand’s new factory karting team which will compete alongside other foreign karting teams at the international level.
The Orion karting team includes Patrik Hájek and Martin Doubek, two promising karting drivers who both had tremendous showings at last month’s WSK Final Cup in the KZ class. Martin Slavík, Orion’s current manager, will also join as the Chief Technical Officer, and along with Praga-Sumako’s Petr Ulbert (Team Manager) and Petr Ptáček (Team Owner) will manage the factory karting team.
The newly-formed karting team will race together for the first time at the end of this month, at the SKUSA SuperNationals in Las Vegas, USA. The karting drivers for this race will compete as follows:
KZ Class: Bas Lammers, Patrik Hájek, Martin Doubek and Lucie Panáčková
G1 Class: Petr Ulbert and Petr Ptáček Sr.
MINI Rok Class: Petr Ptáček Jr. and Marek Boris Machulda
This is the first time in the 15-year history of SuperNationals that a Czech karting team has ever started at the race and Praga karting’s debut will also mark the largest European karting team ever to compete at the renowned US karting race.
