Praga Karting on the Podium at Red Bull Kart Fight
UK Karting Driver Ben Cooper takes 2nd place in Karter’s Division, 3rd place in All-Star Division
2 December 2011, Orlando, Florida —
Praga karting finished their debut season in karting strong, when Ben Cooper pulled out the stops at the Red Bull Kart Fight race, finishing 2nd in the Karter’s Division, and then 3rd in the All-Star Division. As part of the top 8 in the Karter’s Division, Cooper and his Praga racing kart advanced to the All-Star race, starting from P16. During the race, Cooper charged forward and was able to secure a podium finish for Praga karting, against drivers from such famous American racing series as NASCAR and IndyCars.
The karting race, which was held in conjunction with the Performance Racing Industry karting exhibition, used Rotax engines, and the qualifications, pre-finals, and finals were all held in one day. All the karting drivers were set up in one tent, and with such a short timetable, the drivers were not able to experiment and thus did not deviate much from the basic settings of their racing karts.
Praga had two karting drivers in the Karter’s Division, Bas Lammers and Ben Cooper. Qualifications and pre-finals saw Lammers and his Praga racing kart take 2nd and pole position, respectively. In the final Lammers was steadily ahead, but a collision with a barrier forced him to retire from the race.
The karting drivers touted the performance of the Praga Dragon Chassis with harder tires. They also appreciated that Praga had prepared and tested a new certification for both KF and KZ categories, but also devoted preparation to Rotax as well, and were thankful that the racing kart chassis performed so well even with basic settings.
