R1 joins 911s as SCD invites Praga to its Anglesey track day

As SCD’s official Racing Partner, Praga was pleased to attend SCD’s exclusive Porsche 911 GT test day at Anglesey recently. We took along the R1 known as ‘Frank’ – our pride and joy, and SCD’s Miles Lacey’s race car – for a fun-filled day of demo laps and discussions with a number of SCD members who are interested in racing the R1 in our planned 2022 one-make race series. Lacey races the car in the Praga Class within Britcar Endurance with partner James Walker and spent the day carefully selecting the best lines between the 911s as the aero and downforce provided the R1 with a slightly unfair performance advantage at the scenic and (on the day) sun-drenched circuit.

Mark Harrison, Praga Cars UK Managing Director, said: “It was great to be back at Anglesey having been there earlier in the year to shake down all this season’s race cars. The R1 is great fun around the track and when the sun shines there is no nicer place to be on a test day. Miles took it fairly easy for most of the day as we were really there to show off the Frank Stephenson livery on the R1’s carbon fibre aero body, but I spotted a few cheeky hot laps that showed you can’t stop a racer from trying to set a time! The car looked great on the day and we have a few very interesting discussions to continue at the next SCD event, the Secret Meeting at Donington Park.”

“I am really looking forward to joining SCD’s Secret Meeting on Tuesday August 10th. The 2020 event was a real highlight of a challenging year and this year’s will be amazing I am sure. The mix of old and new, race car and road car, makes for a great vibe and we are hoping to have all of our factory R1s on display or on track. I am expecting most of our Guest Drivers will also be at the wheel or around the car, along with our friend Frank Stephenson, so we look forward to introducing them and the R1 to SCD’s members and families. I can’t wait.”
