Triple podium for Miles Lacey on return to Praga Racing ANZ

A successful race weekend for Praga Racing ANZ saw teammates Miles Lacey and Ross Poulakis compete in three sprint races at The Bend, Adelaide on 8th and 9th June, clinching three podium finishes and two fastest laps, with mixed weather conditions adding to the competition.

On his return to the Australian Prototype Series, joining at Round Two, British racing driver Miles Lacey took the 24-hour journey from the UK to South Australia and made it a worthwhile visit.

In an excellent comeback after several months away from racing, Miles began Race One in P7 and made his presence known by making his way up the grid with tight competition among the front runners. In a convincing first result, Miles finished the race in third, while also setting the fastest lap of the race in the Praga. But it was in Race Two that Miles’ experience of wet track conditions from British circuits gave him the edge, showing exceptional skill and determination to be first to take the chequered flag, setting another fastest lap. Finally, the third race of the weekend saw Miles take his third podium finish, this time coming home in second, narrowly missing another race win.

Teammate Ross Poulakis, on only his second outing in the Praga, competed well on speed and tenacity while growing on experience and confidence. Starting Race One in P3, Ross narrowly missed out on the podium after leading for much of the race, but lost positions on the final lap and finished in fourth. Race Two saw Ross come home in 11th, and Race Three in 9th, a solid result having fought back from the rear of the field after a spin on the final laps of the race.

At the end of the weekend, Praga Racing ANZ is currently in second place in the championship standings.

Speaking after the race weekend, Rick Campbell, Team Principle at Praga Racing ANZ said; “What a weekend of action for our team! In what was a frenzied weekend of racing in varied conditions, our support team led by Jiří Suchomel pulled together and produced another amazing result. We’re in great shape for the championship with both Miles and Ross on the hunt for the 2024 championship title. With only one point separating first, second and third, Round Three of the Australian Prototype Series at Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit promises a next level battle for the series lead.”

Round Three of the Australian Prototype Series will take place at Phillip Island on 4th-6th October 2024.
