Praga racing karts will see not one, but two karting champions defend the blue colors at the Red Bull Kart Fight, Powered by Rotax today in Orlando, Florida. Dutchman Bas Lammers, who was already confirmed for the karting race, will be joined by UK’s Ben Cooper, who will also drive the Praga line of racing karts. Fresh From Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals Win In Dubai, Ben Cooper To Race In Red Bull Kart Fight at PRI, Powered by Rotax
Fresh from his win in the Senior division of the 2011 Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals at Al Ain Raceway in Dubai, the UK’s Ben Cooper will be flying to Orlando to compete in the Karters division of the Red Bull Kart Fight at PRI, Powered by Rotax.
Cooper will be racing as part of the Intrepid team, driving a kart from the Praga line of racing karts made by Intrepid.
The Karters division of the Red Bull Kart Fight features an amazing array of talent, including this year’s KZ1 World Champion Jonathon Thonon, 5-time world champion David Fore and last year’s world champion Bas Lammers!
Racers in the All-Star division of the Red Bull Kart Fight include NASCAR Cup star AJ Allmendinger, X Games star Tanner Foust, NASCAR Camping World Truck Series star Cole Whitt, and Indycar’s Ryan Briscoe, Alex Tagliani, E.J. Viso, Townsend Bell and Jay Howard.
The race takes place the night of Thursday, December 1, in Orlando, on a purpose-built kart track adjacent to the North/South Building of the Orange County Convention Center. Opening ceremonies are at 6:15 p.m., and the racing starts at 6:30 p.m. It’s the fifth big kart race to be held at the PRI Trade Show.
Red Bull is promoting the event at 11 kart tracks in the southeastern United States, where drivers will be able to set a lap time and compete for a spot in one of the night’s preliminary races at the big show. The winning driver will receive coaching from Red Bull Athlete Cole Whitt. Regional Qualifiers for the Amateur Division at the Red Bull Kart Fight at PRI, powered by Rotax, are wrapping up throughout the Southeast this weekend. A full report of the qualifying drivers will be announced next week.
The Red Bull Kart Fight at PRI, Powered by Rotax race will be nationally televised. It is being co-sanctioned by the major kart racing series: WKA and IKF. It is the only kart race to have this sort of unification of the karting segment of the racing industry.
