Episode 6: Wets or slicks? Sweat & tears!
- The second half of the 2021 Britcar Endurance Championship gets underway with Round 4 at Silverstone. The crowds are able to once again come out to enjoy motorsport at one of the world’s finest venues, and the home of British motorsport, and the Praga Class turns up in full force with nine R1s again in a close battle for the series during the one-off two-hour endurance race.
Taking place on the full-length Silverstone Grand Prix circuit, the same track being raced last weekend by our Formula 1 heroes, Round 4 proved to be a close race from start to finish, in what will be the season’s longest and most tiring race.
With the added complexity of a mid-race fuel stop and a huge deluge before the pit-lane window opened, the race challenged the Praga R1 drivers and their pit crews. Tyre strategy and team orders would be critical.
The race was also a debut for two new Guest Drivers – ex-BBC Top Gear Stig Ben Collins and Motus One’s Ashley Dibden, who replaced Abbie Eaton who departed in order to fulfill her W Series commitments. Dibden has shown promising pace in his career, with a championship victory in Mono Formula 3, whilst Collins was partnered with double race-winner Jay Morton.
With the rain playing a part in yet another Britcar Championship Round, who will keep their Praga R1 in a straight line, who made the right tyre calls, and who fell foul of the race stewards? You’ll have to watch Episode 6 to find out!
